Dr Hazel Wallace, The Food Medic - Why Choose Whole Grain?

16th February 2018

The Food Medic

We’ve partnered with Dr. Hazel Wallace, otherwise known as The Food Medic – a health and fitness blogger, qualified personal trainer, author, entrepreneur and medical doctor too!

Hazel believes in thinking outside the pill box when it comes to managing diseases that can be related to poor lifestyle choices, such as type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure etc. She practices helping people take control of their health through diet, physical activity and stress management.

Hazel doesn’t believe in quick fixes, detoxes or diets, offering instead good-quality, scientifically evidence-based advice from a straight-talking doctor; someone who has experienced first-hand how food can drastically impact health for better or worse.

Hazel grew up in Co.Louth, Ireland and moved to Wales in 2009 where she achieved a first-class honours degree in Medical Sciences (Bsc) in 2012, and then went on to gain a degree in Medicine (MBBCh) in 2016. She now works as a Junior Doctor in London and bridges the gap between mainstream medicine and nutrition through her blog The Food Medic and her popular social media channels.

Why Choose Whole Grain?

Take a look at Hazel’s blog to get her thoughts about why people should choose whole grains. She explores what a wholegrain is, the benefits of whole grains, and how much you should eat. She also  gives some delicious ideas on how to get whole grain into your diet, as well as sharing some tasty whole grain recipes, such as Apple Pie Porridge and Vegan Chilli with Brown Rice.
